In an unrelated move…

That line jumped out of this story on Griz safety Shann Schillinger signing a four-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. The story mentions that the Falcons also released Richmond QB Eric Ward, “in an unrelated move.”
Yet every time I read his name — or see him on the cover of the Division I Football Championship [...]

Schillinger in HD

I got a chance to watch part of Saturday’s Texas vs. The Nation all-star football game, specifically the third quarter, and Shann Schillinger was in there running around.
The Baker product ended up with three assisted tackles for the Nation, in a 36-17 loss to Texas in the 4-year-old game. Not great numbers, but these game’s [...]

Not quite an App finish

It’s been 20 hours and I’ve watched the game over again, and I’m still trying to find the words to describe that scene at Washington-Grizzly Stadium Saturday night, after the Griz beat App State 24-17 in the FCS semifinals.
Surprising shouldn’t be one of them; after the first-round comeback for a 61-48 win over South Dakota [...]

So I was wrong

I figured that the running backs with the carbon-copy stats would have the biggest impact on Saturday’s FCS playoff game between the Montana Grizzlies and South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Well, SDSU’s Kyle Minett had the better stats – 35 carries, 131 yards, two TDs – but UM’s Chase Reynolds (14 carries, 35 yards, 3 TDs) [...]

The Big Sky feeds the (Griz) bears

The Big Sky announced its all-conference team on Tuesday and nine Griz made the first-team, which is a lot better than the three they got in their magical 2008 season.
The most glaring omission last year, for me, was free safety Shann Schillinger. Now a senior, the Baker product got the nod this season. I was [...]

Good looking school in its underwear

Like the blood drive, like the new Field Turf, love the underwear run. Montana State students “warmed” themselves up for today’s 109th Brawl of the Wild with a run through campus in their underwear — you can see a video on the Bozeman Daily Chronicle Website.
The unmentionables were mostly blue and gold, but there were [...]
