Volkswagen. For the record.

I had to smile at Robin Pflugrad’s comment at practice Thursday, after I asked how the team looked ahead of Saturday’s final scrimmage in Butte.

He actually reiterated the quote he wanted to see in the paper:

‘The Cadillac looks more like a Volkswagen. For the record,” he said.

Then he said, “For the record,” again.

He was referring to a line in my Wednesday column about new offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith, in which I referred to Joe Glenn’s oft-repeated line about “keys to the Cadillac” that is Grizzly football.

Pflugrad knows the cupboard isn’t bare, but also feels his transition, in terms of recruiting, could’ve been smoother. I suspect a few of Bobby Hauck’s recruits may fall out of favor. That shouldn’t be a surprise, because the same thing happened to some of Glenn’s recruits when Hauck took over in 2003.
