Montana Tech has two finalists to be the Orediggers’ next football coach. One is Ty Gregorak, who was a motivating, recruiting, blue language barrier-breaking linebackers coach at UM for seven seasons under Bobby Hauck.

We all know what happened between Hauck’s leaving for UNLV and the Rebels’ first game this season. Long story short, Gregorak – who came close to landing at NAU, according to sources – ended up at Central Washington coaching tight ends. Now he has a chance to replace the venerable Bob Green at Tech.

Green had a penchant for humorous sound bites. In that department Montana Tech AD Joe McClafferty and the Diggers could do a lot worse than Gregorak. Knowing what I know – and don’t know – about his April incident in Boulder, Colo., I’d hire him.
