Keeping my religion while others lose theirs
Here’s my Wednesday column, speaking in defense of the 2010 Griz football team. It was an excellent year that some seem to think was ruinous. I don’t feel that way, and there was a lot to like about that team. One note: I said two 7-4 teams received at-large bids into the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs; I didn’t self-edit like I meant to, and the number was actually six. Which is a lot. But they all had more D-I wins than the Griz.
Also, take a gander at what friend of the program Andrew Schmidt has written on his “MentalReps” blog. He took time out from studying law to create an entertaining post. He hits the Griz and Cats pretty hard, along with college football in general; in short, he’s lost his religion. I give it two thumbs up. Schmidt used to play running back for the Griz, and had a hella-good game against Cal Poly in 2008.
Also, Mick Holien and Jim O’Day beat me to this link: Count UMass among the FCS teams heading on up.
