High emotion in the CAA
Here’s a follow-up story from Delaware’s 13-10 win over James Madison Saturday, in Harrisonburg, Va., during which Delaware QB Pat Devlin sustained a concussion on his team’s second offensive snap, and after which JMU coach Mickey Matthews cleared his players off the field rather than shake hands.
Delaware coach K.C. Keeler wanted the CAA to investigate the hit on Devlin, which came just after he’d handed the ball off on a read-zone play (the CAA did investigate; no foul, it said). Mathews said there was nothing to see, and added this:
“If you’re going to run a scheme where you don’t block the guys, you’re going to take some hits.”
The Blue Hens are ranked No. 2 and are 5-0, including a 26-3 win over South Dakota State (which is 0-4) and of course a win over the Dukes, who beat Virginia Tech three weeks ago.
