Different sort of 2-for-1

There’s two-for-ones and there’s what Portland State has set up for its home football slate, which is being played at 7,600-seat Hillsboro Stadium this season.

According to a release from UM, Griz fans who want to see their team play PSU on Oct. 16 can buy a ticket only if they purchase a ticket to another Viking home game. Your choices are Idaho State on Oct. 2, Eastern Washington on Oct. 30 and Northern Colorado Nov. 13.  Cost of the two-game set: $60. I imagine more than a few Montana fans will bite the bullet and buy the sets.

Also problematic is the Sept. 18 Griz game at Eastern Washington, which is when the Eagles play their first game on their new red turf. The 500 tickets allotted to UM were immediately snapped up, and until Sept. 1 only Eagle Athletic Association members get to buy the remaining seats. Woodward Field, which has a listed capacity of 8,600, will fill up: For their last three home games against the Grizzlies the Eagles drew 10,830, 11,583 and 10,754 fans.

The bad news: If you want to purchase tickets now you need a minimum of $120 to join the EAA, after which you can buy a pair of tickets. The good news: After Sept. 1 you can get after whatever is left, for anywhere from $20 to $35.
