Just kidding, Boise; come on in
Here’s Kurt Kragthorpe’s take on Boise State heading off to the Mountain West Conference, and he asks many of the same questions I have, including: What changed in the four days since the Mountain West tabled expansion (on Monday)?
It’s an interesting time in college football, but from my perspective it’s for all the wrong reasons. One model I saw had five, 16-team super conferences that will gobble up most of the TV money — and it’s a lot of money, since a legit bowl playoff system is certain to follow.
I hate to be too pessimistic, but from the WAC on down through the Football Championship Subdivision that includes the Montana Grizzlies, there should be some serious gnashing of teeth. Moving up may be on the minds of many Griz fans, but if the Bowl Subdivision turns into 80 haves and leaves around 160 have-not D-I teams, well, there isn’t going to be much to move up to.
